Now that's more like it! Probably the best film I've seen in years.
Why did I like this one more than the Two Towers? Probably because it's more believable - real characters that you care about, for example, rather than posturing cardboard cutouts. The mood created by the overall gray tones of the film and scenes of compete devastation. Plenty of violence, some of it very sudden and horrific, but that's how violence should be portrayed, not as part of some glorious heroic romp where only the bad guys get hurt and no-one gets maimed or visibly suffers.
I don't normally like films based on real life events, since they often try to remain too true to the details of the story to make good drama. I have no idea of how faithfully this one reflects what actually happened and I don't really care - it's an amazing film.
