Objectives
At the completion of this
course, you should be able to
- use computer technology
appropriately to investigate functions and their graphs, and recognize the
limitations of such invstigations
- recognize limiting processes,
calculate limits and use limits to find asymptotes, discuss continuity, etc.
- calculate the derivative
of any combination of elementary functions, including those given implicitly
or parametrically
- use derivatives to describe
graphs of functions and to analyse them in detail
- model and solve simple
real-world problems involving rates of change, extrema, etc. using derivatives
- demonstrate an overall
understanding of the basic concepts of differential calculus and an ability
to analyse problems beyond the performance of routine calculations.
